Since 1987, all vineyards under the Schloss Reichartshausen appellation of origin have been in the sole possession of Balthasar Ress. The castle, which was originally owned by Eberbach Monastery, proved early on to be an important trading hub for the Eberbach monks.
Today, the spirit of the commercially-minded clerics continues to hover over the estate and is home to the well-known European Business School - a private college of business and law. Following the tradition of Eberbach Monastery, our monopollage grows exclusively Riesling on the sandy floodplain soils. The flat vineyard, which lies in direct proximity to the Rhine at about 10 meters above sea level, gives the wines a harmony of fine fruity acidity and full-bodied aromatics. Our Schloss Reichartshausen Riesling should not be missing in any wine cellar. By the way, if you ever forget a bottle in your cellar, don't worry. Thanks to its long shelf life, this Riesling rewards you even after several years with great maturity aromas without losing elegance.
