Rüdesheim - probably the best known and most visited place in the Rheingau. From its center and across the adjacent vineyards, the cable car stretches uphill to the Niederwald Monument. If you sit in one of its gondolas, you float away with breathtaking views over the vineyards of Rüdesheim. The soils in the western part are characterized by slate and quartzite. These barren soils give a mineral impression in the wine. In the eastern part, sandstone and loess loam run through the soils, giving our top Rüdesheim wines their expressive note. Their animating acidity will make them a true pleasure even in future years.
For decades, Balthasar Ress has owned many classified top sites around Rüdesheim. Only the Berg Schlossberg and Berg Rottland sites, the absolute crème de la crème, make it onto our label by name. Grapes from the other classified Rüdesheim sites Klosterlay, Bischofsberg and Roseneck unite in our Rüdesheim district wines under one flavorful denominator - a true insider tip!
