With the urban development project "Neue Altstadt" (New Old Town), Frankfurt has brought back a piece of lifestyle to the Main metropolis. In the course of this project, the squares and streets of Alter Markt, Hühnermarkt, Hinter dem Lämmchen and Neugasse with their historic properties and courtyards, including Hof Rebstock am Markt and Goldenen Lämmchen, were largely restored. There were 35 new buildings, including 15 reconstructions of historic old town houses, described as "creative replicas". The most valuable reconstruction and showpiece of the area is the “Haus zur Goldenen Waage”.
Wine Bar Frankfurt
On the evening after returning from a long trip abroad in Asia on December 2, 2016, Christian Ress and his partner, still slightly overtired, meet the investor and connoisseur Dr. Sven Zeller and his wife Tanja at a winemaker's dinner at the Hotel Frankfurter Hof. When the latter tells him about his future house, the former Grüne Linde Inn, in this area and later visits the construction site with him, Christian Ress is electrified by what he sees. After a few rounds of negotiations, an agreement is reached and interior work can begin in the summer of 2018. Just two months after the start of construction, Christian Ress is the first operator ever to open his second Balthasar Ress Wine Bar after Wiesbaden in the new lively district on the market in the New Old Town at the beginning of September.
Not least because of the bold and elegant interior design, the FAZ praises the Wine Bar as a "cosmopolitan spot" in the New Old Town.
Seven days a week, numerous Balthasar Ress wines as well as selected wines from partner wineries, including Pol Roger, the Ress family's favorite champagne, can be enjoyed by the glass and taken home or ordered at estate prices (the delivery is free of charge without minimum order quantity in Wiesbaden, Frankfurt and the Rheingau region). The on-site bartenders also create fine drinks until late in the evening: No other bar serves more gin and tonics with the in-house "Balthasar's Eleven London Dry Gin".
The bistro kitchen prepares small dishes that go perfectly with the wine.
Private Party
The Wine Bar can be used exclusively for your party or reception, even outside regular opening hours, subject to a minimum sales agreement. Wine tastings arranged exclusively for your group can also be held on site. Depending on the concept, there is room for up to 30 people indoors.
