A hero for

Rheingau Hero

The "RHEINGAU HELD" helps young upcoming artists

The Rheingau Music Festival and VDP.Weingut Balthasar Ress present a jointly conceived Rheingau Riesling to support and promote young artists

The close relationship between the Rheingau Music Festival and the Balthasar Ress Winery stems from the friendship that has existed for decades between festival founder Michael Herrmann and Stefan Ress, co-owner of the Balthasar Ress Winery.

The managing director of the Rheingau Music Festival, Count Marsilius von Ingelheim, and Christian Ress, managing director and co-owner of the Balthasar Ress Winery, are determined to continue cultivating this connection. Their first joint project was already decided on during their first personal meeting in spring 2021: A wine to support and promote young up-and-coming musicians whose young careers have often suffered, or are in danger of suffering, a bitter setback as a result of the Corona crisis.

The wine is called "RHEINGAU HELD" and will also contribute to the support of young up-and-coming musicians in future years. "Here, the wine is not to be understood as a hero, but rather the wine drinker who chooses this wine. With his contribution, he becomes the hero of culture in the Rheingau!" Christian Ress explains the catchy name emblazoned in large letters on the label.

Of the retail price (recommended retail price €12.90) of each bottle of Rheingau Riesling trocken from Balthasar Ress, €1.00 net goes to the Rheingau Music Festival initiative.

In its very first year, sales of the "RHEINGAU HELD" generated a donation of €4,597.00 to benefit "Zukunft Klassik e. V.". As soon as the new vintage is filled in the spring, the "RHEINGAU HELD" will again be available in the Balthasar Ress online store at the web address www.rheingau-held.de and in the Balthasar Ress Weinbar & Vinotheques.

Count Marsilius von Ingelheim explains: "The Rheingau Music Festival has been promoting young talent in the music industry for many years. Particularly in the current climate, it is especially important for young artists to have opportunities to perform in order to further develop their own careers. This is exactly where we come in with our support programs and prepare the stages for the stars of tomorrow to present their own art. Help that goes directly to where it is needed."

The wine has everything that makes a true Rheingau Riesling so distinctive: hints of bright fruit, such as apple and peach, paired with fresh citrus aromas on the nose, rounded off by spicy herbal notes and a touch of minerality and fine grip! The "RHEINGAU HELD" is simply fun to drink!"
