On the occasion of the restoration of the local History Museum in Keitum, Christian Ress donated 1,200 euros, which was handed over in the form of a check to Sven Lappoehn, managing director of the Sölring Foriining Association, at the vine lease picking day event with the vine lease holders on September 25th in 2021.
The Sölring Foriining
The Association Sölring Foriining is dedicated to the preservation of culture, landscape and monuments on Sylt. The restoration of local History Museum in Keitum is also being carried out by the Sölring Foriining Association and is finally getting off the ground thanks to the donations. The amount serves as start-up financing for the refurbishment of the aging wooden pictures in the entrance area of the museum. The four historic wooden pictures are embedded in the walls of the museum and reflect the four seasons, which, however, can only be recognized with difficulty. For this reason, they are now to be extensively restored.
The auction
The money for the good cause was raised during the wineBANK Community Table, which took place on July 9th, 2021 on Sylt. Up for auction was a rare wine box from Ress' private stock, including one of the popular Sylt vine leases. A personal signature on the wooden crate from Christian Ress and Günther Jauch, TV presenter and owner of the von Othegraven winery in Kanzem on the Saar, was of course not to be missed. The bidding reached its climax when the rarity box was finally worth 1,200 euros to a vinophile from Hamburg. Since the bidder was still on vacation at the time the check was handed over, her father made his way to Sylt to hand over the donation together with Christian Ress.
