The "RHEINGAU HELD" helps up-and-coming artists

The "RHEINGAU HELD" helps young artists

The Rheingau Music Festival and VDP.Weingut Balthasar Ress present a jointly conceived Rheingau Riesling to support and promote young artists

The close relationship between the Rheingau Music Festival and the Balthasar Ress Winery stems from the friendship that has existed for decades between festival founder Michael Herrmann and Stefan Ress, co-owner of the Balthasar Ress Winery.

The managing director of the Rheingau Music Festival, Count Marsilius von Ingelheim, and Christian Ress, managing director and co-owner of the Balthasar Ress Winery, are determined to continue cultivating this connection. Their first joint project was already decided on during their first personal meeting in spring 2021: A wine to support and promote young up-and-coming musicians whose young careers have often suffered, or are in danger of suffering, a bitter setback as a result of the Corona crisis.

The wine will be called "RHEINGAU HELD". "Here, the wine is not to be understood as a hero, but rather the wine drinker who chooses this wine. He becomes with his contribution the hero of the culture in the Rheingau!" explains Christian Ress the catchy name, which is emblazoned in large letters on the label.

Of the retail price (recommended retail price €12.90) of each bottle of Rheingau Riesling trocken from the house of Balthasar Ress, €1.00 net goes to the Rheingau Music Festival initiative.

Count Marsilius von Ingelheim explains: "The Rheingau Music Festival has been promoting young talent in the music industry for many years. Especially at the present time, it is particularly important for young artists to be given opportunities to perform in order to be able to further develop their own careers. This is exactly where we come in with our support programs and prepare the stages for the stars of tomorrow to present their own art. Help that goes directly to where it is needed."

The "RHEINGAU HELD" will be available immediately not only in the Balthasar Ress online store at the web address www.rheingau-held.de, but also at many other retailers, restaurants and grocers in the region.

Oliver Schmid, the operations manager at Balthasar Ress, is quite enthusiastic about "his" dry Rheingau Riesling: "The wine has everything that makes a genuine Rheingau Riesling so distinctive: hints of bright fruit, such as apple and peach, paired with fresh citrus aromas on the nose, rounded off by spicy herbal notes and a touch of minerality and fine grip! The "RHEINGAU HELD" is simply fun to drink!"

About the Balthasar Ress Winery:

Balthasar Ress wanted to be a host - that's how it all began in 1870. A courageous and capable young man named Balthasar founded the "Gasthof Ress" on Hauptstraße in Hattenheim, laying the foundation not only for a long gastronomic tradition and hospitality in the Rheingau, but also for today's VDP.Weingut Balthasar Ress. Since that time, the Ress family has lived in the tradition of being good hosts and creating fine moments with fine wines. Today, the winery manages a total of around 55 hectares of vineyards in many of the Rheingau's top locations, but also owns land in Rheinhessen and the famous vineyard on Sylt. Balthasar Ress has been eco-certified since the 2019 vintage, making it currently the largest certified organic winery in Hesse.
