Balthasar Ress fills new position of operations and sales manager

Balthasar Ress has appointed Markus Roll to the position of operations manager with responsibility for production and international sales.

Markus Roll brings several years of experience as sales manager and operations manager in renowned wineries from Germany. The graduate engineer in viticulture and oenology took up his new position alongside co-owner and managing director Christian Ress on January 1, 2022. Since then, Markus Roll has been responsible for managing production (cellar and viticulture) and worldwide sales.

The new appointment was made necessary by the fact that the brother and sister Oliver Schmid (production management) and Sarah Schmid (sales management) left the winery at the end of last year to take on a new challenge together in the Rheingau.

Christian Ress explains, "Our vision is to work together to create the finest Rieslings, the finest Pinot Noirs and unmistakable moments in the most beautiful places in the world. The quality of the international distribution of our wines and the international perception must be able to keep pace with this ambition. With Markus Roll at my side, I feel well equipped for the tasks ahead. At the same time, I am grateful for what we have achieved together through the dedicated and trusting cooperation with Oliver and Sarah Schmidt."

For Markus Roll, one thing is clear: "There is a lot to do. Let's get to it!". Together with Christian Ress, he wants to take the Balthasar Ress Winery to the top. As the new linchpin between production and sales, Markus Roll will devote himself mainly to areas such as quality enhancement, new customer acquisition, and operational optimization.
